Description:
Manage daily operation of SAIC’s visual design solutions in the Academic Multimedia Production and Training (AMPT) unit. Produce high quality designs for SAIC’s academic and institutional purposes while adhering to the budget, scope and resources available. Hire, train, schedule and supervise student employees for production of design projects.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production: Develop, produce and project manage visual design projects of various media for SAIC; to serve the institution's educational, operational and communication needs. Provide visual, environmental and wayfinding design services for IRFM. Prioritize and forecast production projects, in collaboration with the Associate Director of AMPT and the Multimedia Content Production Manager.
Hire: Hire a team of advanced student employees to fulfill all aspects of Academic Media Design Production.
Train and Supervise: Schedule, orient, train, supervise and evaluate student employees.
Document: Document design production training guides and conduct training sessions. Provide technical tours of the facilities, operations, and any configurations of existing systems and equipment that are utilized by AMPT.
Manage, Troubleshoot and Maintain Equipment: Troubleshoot existing AMPT equipment and systems related to design. Maintain, upkeep, organize, clean any AMPT equipment and files. Manage, track, condition report equipment and files and verify accuracy of inventory.
Archival Process: Assist in the process of digitally archiving all formats of generated designs.
Collaborate: Proactively communicate with all stakeholders to devise and implement design production solutions that adhere to institutional best practices. Provide consultation, technically orient and assist, as well as interact professionally with all departments, clients, students, and internal or external production representatives.
Research and Analyze: Research, analyze and recommend software and equipment upgrades and solutions to the Associate Director of AMPT. Maintain an understanding of current and new technology and design trends in addition to researching developing technology and design trends, as it pertains to our greater department role at the school.
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or equivalent experience required.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in design project management. Professional level experience in principles and practices of digital art, graphic design, layout and illustration.
SKILLS
Advanced knowledge of all aspects of design production required.
Knowledge of digital, print, 3D & interactive media
Project management expertise
Ability to work with a diverse range of faculty, students and staff and to teach technology from the basic through advanced levels.
Proven management-supervisory experience required.
Excellent writing and overall communication skills required
Strong computer skills required.
Demonstrable understanding of web applications and HTML preferred.
Experience in higher education administration, integrated communication strategy highly desirable.
Contemporary art history knowledge is a plus
