Printing Services with Iowa State University has an excellent opportunity available for a Graphic Design/Prepress Technician, which will be classified as a Graphic Design Assistant III. The mission of Printing Services is to identify and efficiently provide Iowa State University’s core printing needs, offering services that contribute to the success of Iowa State. Our strategic vision is to provide appropriate printing services to the Iowa State community at a competitive price, a prompt turnaround time, and at top quality. We strive to provide services completely integrated into the emerging digital communications flow so that printing and related services are the means to communicate the knowledge asset of Iowa State University communities to Iowa and its people.

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for duties such as:

• File Preparation: Review and prepare digital files for printing, ensuring they meet the required specifications and quality standards.

• Proofing: Create and review proofs to ensure accuracy and quality before printing.

• Color Management: Adjust and manage color settings to ensure consistent and accurate color reproduction.

• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues with digital files that may affect the printing process.

• Communication: Collaborate with clients, designers, and other team members to ensure all requirements are met and any issues are addressed promptly.

• Quality Control: Conduct quality checks on printed materials to ensure they meet the required standards.

This individual will also be responsible for the c reation of graphic designs based on customer concepts and needs. They will c onceptualize and plan graphic communications for advertisement, communication, information transfer and training materials. The successful candidate will also provide a ssistance to Printing Services with marketing and promotion through print, websites, social media and other forms of communication. Strong computer skills are necessary to be successful in this role.
