Duties and Responsibilities:
- Use exceptional creativity and innovative design skills with a strong design aesthetic to:
- Design, illustrate and prepare layouts, posters, exhibits, flyers, letterheads, logos, certificates, PowerPoints, invitations, templates, and other promotional and marketing materials. This includes design assets for use in digital applications like websites, email campaigns, social media, etc.
- Establish the look and feel for designs, including typeface, type size, dimensions, placement of graphics and photos and length of page.
- Have a thorough understanding of branding and marketing, with the ability to explore options and find the right style, execution, and layout for every project.
- Designs and constructs visual displays and exhibits; determines materials and equipment best suited for job.
- Adapt templates for a strongly branded piece with a cohesion to the rest of the brand.
- Will create clear infographics from data and statistics.
- Illustration with the capability of converting to vector for use across design software.
- Translate strategic direction into high-quality design within an established brand identity.
- Obtain input from senior designers to ensure that designs meet organizational standards and brand expectations, express ideas accurately, and represent the company or client appropriately.
- Work independently as well as cooperatively with marketing team to meet deadlines, stay within budget, and schedule project implementation based on workload, which may include five or more simultaneous projects.
- Utilize communication skills and demonstrate willingness to closely collaborate with design team.
- Coordinates with creative team and clients requesting graphic design and layout work; develops ideas; suggests new ideas or modifies existing ideas.
- Will continue to pursue professional development to build skill set and grow in this position.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to thoroughly understand existing brand and style guide to accurately apply to each project.
- Knowledge of current design software and skill in every step of the design process, from concept to final deliverable.
- Strong communication skills.
- Skill in video and animation.
- Passion for photography and proficiency with photo editing software.
- Background and/or interest in the sciences and science communication.
- Enthusiasm for keeping up with design trends.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience and 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
