Responsibilities
- KC Water is undertaking a significant capital improvements program and seeking Graduate Engineers with an interest in managing multiple projects related to improvements within KC Water's Storm and Sanitary sewers, combined sewer collection system, and Urban Drainage Systems.
- Graduate Engineers have the opportunity to assist in various aspects of project management processes from project initiation through project close-out of the project delivery life cycle for multiple projects related to improvements to the wastewater system and/or stormwater infrastructure.
- Graduate Engineers will interpret and apply technical specifications, city ordinances, state and federal regulations, and related standards to projects. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the city, and the public.
- Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, engineering plans, hydrological characteristics, and geologic data to plan and design projects.
- Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.
- Directs construction and maintenance activities at project sites throughout Kansas City.
- Inspects construction sites to monitor progress and ensures conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards.
- Assists in preparing bidding documents, memos, and plans for construction projects; verify conformance of the plans and specifications prepared by Design Professionals, submit Project Status Reports (PSR’s) on the progress of projects, review submittals for materials used and related data.
- Responds to complaints and provides general guidance on projects.
- Perform limited design as well as drafting and computational duties in the office in preparation of final plans and specifications for projects.
- Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
Qualifications
REQUIRES an ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in any professionally recognized architectural/engineering discipline as required by the hiring authority. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.
