General Clerk Attendance

 

Description:

Performs a wide variety of clerical support services to assist the efficient operation of the High School Attendance office while insuring that decisions made are in compliance with assigned position responsibilities, school policies and procedures and maintaining confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities

(These duties and responsibilities are judged to be "essential functions" in terms of the Americans With Disabilities Act or ADA)

  • Maintains, processes, updates and verifies student attendance records and enters data into school computer systems.
  • Prepares and mails student attendance and tardy letters on a -weekly basis.
  • Accesses the attendance telephone line, documents and monitors student attendance, and approves releases from school and issues passes; logs daily absences and tardies retrieved from phone calls, teachers, etc.
  • Prepares student credit review documentation at the end of each semester.
  • Responds to customer needs and provides appropriate responses and referrals; takes messages and relays information as needed.
  • Requests, receives and distributes homework assignments for student on extended suspension or medical-related absences.
  • Composes and prepares school correspondence, standard documents and forms and other written materials including typing, compiling, printing, copying and distributing various school letters, forms and reports.
  • Assigns lockers to students and maintain master locker file for building.
  • Run and distribute student attendance reports to teachers or administrators as necessary.
  • Assist in processing count day.
  • Assist in monitoring sick and injured students.
  • Monitor and report communicable diseases to the health department.
  • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers, scanners, computers, printers, calculators, facsimile machines, voicemail systems, and telephones.
  • Communicate with customers, employees, students, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information and address complaints.

This position requires high school diploma or equivalent.
