Currently, we are recruiting for a Gallery Programs Coordinator to join our team. The Gallery Programs Coordinator will play a vital role in designing and supporting engaging experiences for intergenerational visitors with a primary focus on in-gallery adult and family learning. This role will collaborate with docent and storyteller leadership, curators, experience designers, and others to design program goals, recruit and train facilitators, and evaluate the programs.
The position cultivates positive and respectful relationships with volunteers, staff, visitors, members, and vendors creating meaningful experiences that connect art, education, and the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides vision for in-gallery adult and family learning, incorporating existing programs and adding new initiatives.
- In collaboration with other staff and volunteers, plans recruitment and training for docents and storytellers, focusing on learners and facilitation techniques, as well as art and cultural history while encompassing emergent practices.
- Acts as the main point of contact and advocate for volunteers facilitating in-gallery programs for adults and families, supporting their success, and creating peer mentoring and review protocols.
- Champions diversity, equity, access and inclusion in volunteer recruitment, training, and program design.
- Organizes, coordinates, and facilitates various programs, including but not limited to Takeout Tuesdays and Community Speakers Program (CSP) and the evolution of these programs as necessary.
- Coordinates and supports daily public tour programs, and continuously ensures diverse community interests and needs are met.
- Fosters effective communication and collaboration with the School Tours Coordinator and groups engaged in gallery teaching and experiences; attends frontline meetings to ensure smooth coordination of scheduling spaces and awareness of programs among staff in visitor-facing departments.
- Coordinates docent/storyteller trainings and events; arranges recording and disseminating of training materials.
- Aids in marketing efforts for public gallery programs; partners with marketing to create calendar announcements, website updates, and information for the Member’s Magazine.
- Maintains data and provides reports on audiences served and reach of the programs; collaborates with evaluation staff to reflect on program success and areas for improvement.
- Provides school tour support by giving tours or assisting with check-ins and activities as needed.
- Establishes and nurtures strong working relationships with museum staff, colleagues from other institutions, patrons, consultants, and vendors.
- Performs other duties and projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and three (3) years of related work experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered. Master of Arts in Museum Studies, Education, Art History, Anthropology, History, or Asian Studies preferred.

- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Flexibility to occasionally work evenings or weekends for special events or programs.
