Description:
The Forklift Operator (DAYS12 Hr Shift) is responsible for the safe operation of forklifts and other equipment to receive, stock, pick, load, transfer, and ship raw or finished products, and ensuring accurate and complete documentation. The Forklift Operator reports to the Department Leader.
Key Responsibilities
Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:
- Supply manufacturing with raw materials and WIP (Work in Progress) in a timely manner.
- Unload inbound trailers to be staged for put-away’s.
- Store raw materials in designated locations.
- Load outbound trailers with finished bulk.
- Ensure that all inventory transactions are completed real time and accurately.
- Replenish supplies to support manufacturing and packaging operations.
The ideal candidate is flexible with assignments, teamwork oriented, and able to work with minimal direction. You are proactive and will identity opportunities to improve current processes and procedures.
Critical Success Factors
You'll be most successful in this role if you have:
- Prior PIT (powered industrial truck) certification. Stand Up Reach PIT experience in the movement of materials/bulk in warehouse/distribution environment preferred.
- Previous experience operating a RF (Radio Frequency) system and using an inventory control system. Familiarity with JDE preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English to read / understand policies, procedures, good manufacturing practices and batch records; communicate with supervisors and others; and maintain routine records.
Capabilities and Skills Required
To take on these challenges, you'll need to have:
- High school diploma / GED or 9 years equivalency of related work experience.
- One-year experience utilizing a PIT in a large warehouse preferred but not required.
- Ability to manually lift, up to 45 lbs. and operate PIT or pallet jacks to reach, push, pull and lift materials weighing up to 600 pounds.
- Ability to effectively communicate; read, write, and perform basic math skills in English
- Basic arithmetic skills to count/balance numbers of products and perform routine calculations.
