Forklift Field Technician

Description:

Alta Equipment Company, North America’s largest equipment dealer, is seeking a Forklift Field Technician / Mechanic to join its Ronkonkoma, NY branch. This role is essential to our business, as technicians are the backbone of our operations. We provide competitive wages, company benefits, and a professional work environment. Key Responsibilities:

✔ Perform preventative maintenance on customer forklifts and material handling equipment.
✔ Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in customer equipment.
✔ Complete repairs efficiently and professionally to meet customer needs.
✔ Provide exceptional customer service and ensure client satisfaction.
✔ Manage workloads independently while handling field assignments.
✔ Maintain company vehicle and on-board parts inventory.
✔ Ensure proper completion of paperwork for all service jobs.
✔ Adhere to safety protocols and company guidelines.
✔ Perform other duties as assigned.
✔ Maintain regular, reliable attendance and be ready to work at the designated start time.

Qualifications & Requirements:

✅ 2+ years of forklift repair experience (military experience also considered).
✅ Prior field service experience is highly desirable.
✅ Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane forklifts.
✅ Excellent mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting skills.
✅ Must possess own tools for field service work.
✅ Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (company vehicle provided).
✅ Experience with computer programs such as HYPASS, Hyster TKC, and Yale/Hyster contact management systems.
✅ Strong language skills for reading manuals and communicating with customers.
✅ Basic math skills for measurement and calculations.
✅ Ability to interpret written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

✔ Frequent standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, and lifting up to 100+ lbs.
✔ Work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions.
✔ Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, and electrical hazards.
