Forklift Field Service Technician

Alta Equipment Company, North America’s largest equipment dealer, is seeking a skilled Forklift Field Service Technician / Mechanic to join our Material Handling Group in Portland, ME. This is a full-time, first-shift (M-F) role that offers a company service van, fuel card, and a comprehensive benefits package.

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining forklifts and material handling equipment at customer locations. The role requires strong mechanical skills, troubleshooting abilities, and customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment.
✔ Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and implement solutions.
✔ Provide exceptional customer service and ensure repairs are done efficiently.
✔ Manage workloads independently while ensuring timely job completion.
✔ Maintain accurate records and submit paperwork for each service call.
✔ Ensure company vehicle and onboard parts inventory are properly managed.
✔ Follow safety regulations and Alta's Guiding Principles in daily work.
✔ Assist in training new technicians when required.

Who You Are:

✅ Experienced in forklift or heavy equipment repair (previous field experience preferred).
✅ Skilled in electrical schematics and ICE engine troubleshooting.
✅ Strong mechanical aptitude with problem-solving skills.
✅ Capable of working independently while maintaining efficiency.
✅ Possess own tools and valid driver’s license (clean driving record required).
✅ Comfortable using computer programs like HYPASS and Hyster TKC training software.

Requirements:

🔹 Military or technical background preferred (MOS/NEC codes: 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M, CM).
🔹 Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical documents.
🔹 Physical ability to lift up to 100+ pounds and work in various environments.
🔹 Basic mathematical and reasoning skills.
