Fire Sprinkler Designer

 

Description:

We are looking for a skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer who is based in Reno, Nevada to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing fire sprinkler systems for residential buildings using CAD software. You will work alongside our engineers and designers on client-facing projects.

In this role, you will be involved in construction projects ranging from small houses to large mega-mansions.

Candidates for this role should have extensive experience working with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software), designing fire sprinkler systems, and a keen eye for detail.

While the position will initially be remote, we are building a team in Reno and will be setting up a physical office. You will have the option to work out of the office, work remotely, or work in a hybrid manner as fits your schedule.

Role Responsibilities

  • Design new fire protection sprinkler systems in compliance with fire protection codes, including gathering required information.
  • Preparing CAD designs of residential buildings, designing associated fire protection systems, preparing hydraulic calculations, and assembling data sheets.
  • Ensuring CAD designs comply with Engineered Fire Systems quality metrics.
  • Creating CAD libraries for Engineered Fire System to improve the quality and efficiency of our design team.
  • Finalizing engineering drawings for delivery to clients.
  • Liaising with architects, clients, builders, contractors, and owners.
  • Working with plan reviewers and city engineers to resolve engineering challenges.
  • Managing and delegating to the junior designers and drafters.
  • Occasional site visits to the Reno/Tahoe area.

 

Role Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering or architecture degree.
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD (or similar CAD) software.
  • 2 years of experience in architecture or civil, mechanical, electrical, or fire protection engineering.
  • Experience in residential or commercial construction.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and respond to the needs of multiple projects and managers.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines for contract work.
  • Quick and adaptable learner, willing to be trained on fire protection industry and company drafting standards.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
