Financial Operations Analyst

 

Description:

Reporting to the Associate Director for Finance and Operations in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor (EVC), is responsible for finance and budget administration as well as managing the day-to-day fiscal operations of Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs Information Technology (AAIT), Academic Personnel (AP), and providing support to Academic Program Review and the Ombuds Offices. Provides financial administration and management support for divisional activities, including UCOP funded initiatives and the expenditure review process, including exceptions to policy. Responsibilities include financial analysis, reporting, and tracking; managing operational, administrative, and organizational activities; maintaining and initiating financial and operations databases; general ledger reconciliation; purchasing; and preparing and processing a wide variety of financial transactions. Serves as a control point resource to units within Academic Affairs for financial and payroll activities and administrative operations, as well as within the divisional office. Provides analytical and project support for a wide range of topics. Exercises advanced problem-solving skills and knowledge to plan, recommend, and execute courses of action. Uses independent judgment, decision making, and initiative to set priorities, plan, and coordinate projects and activities. Possesses sophisticated organizational and analytical skills, and applies best business practices to ensure that all functions operate smoothly and efficiently. Maintains confidentiality and exercises a superior level of professionalism, tact, and diplomacy while performing the critical duties of the position. Works under the pressure of competing deadlines and frequent interruptions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, payroll, and budgeting & reporting techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial processes, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, analytical skills, service orientation, active listening, critical thinking, attention to detail, ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills, effective verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment and decision making.
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team and adapt to changing priorities.
