Financial Analysis Advisor

The purpose of this role is to focus on the financial performance of the dental product for the Individual & Family Plans (IFP) segment.  This role will oversee the financial models for membership and financial projections, reporting actual data, and explaining variances in performance.  The role will build solid relationships with key matrix partners who are responsible for sales distribution and product management of the IFP segment dental plans.  This becomes a trusted business partner who is sought out for business decision support.  The role will work closely with other members of the IFP Financial Planning and Analysis team.

Responsibilities:

This role is part of the IFP FP&A team responsible for projections and actual reporting of the individual dental product.  Major responsibilities include:
 

  • Lead dental membership monthly production process, working closely with FIRM membership team on reconciliations and with IFP business partners to reconcile distribution channel variances.
  • Develop quarterly membership projections and variance analysis working closely with sales distribution channel leaders and IFP FP&A team.
  • Develop quarterly financial projections for premiums and claims at the plan, state, and distribution channel level.
  • Oversee monthly/quarterly financial reporting of dental premiums and claims by plan type, state and distribution channels.
  • Create ad-hoc analyses with business partners to deep dive into trend analysis and help steer the business to profitable decisions.
  • Work with Product and Pricing Leads to set Dental projection targets, explain variances and gain insight into market/growth opportunities and new plans
  • Assist in business case development for new plans and initiatives
  • Maintain process documentation.

Qualifications:
 

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • MBA/CPA preferred.
  • Four or more years of financial management experience including business planning and financial analysis and accounting.
  • Expertise using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word and Access.
  • Experience with Hyperion Reporting.
  • Strong communications skills including written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and/or individual market is desirable.
