Description:
We have an opening for a Finance and Accounting Assistant to join the Finance and Accounting department at MCA Chicago. Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant supports the finance and accounting department in a variety of administrative matters and operational support related to budgets, cash, and fixed assets. To be successful in this role, you must:
- Assist all departments with budget inquiries or operational issues that impact their budget.
- Produce and distribute departmental and senior management financial reports.
- Input budget entries and budget projection changes to the budgeting software system.
- Produce financial statements and supporting documentation for bank bond compliance for review by the Chief Finance Officer.
- Record and maintain the records and accounting entries related to fixed assets and capital purchases under the direction of the Controller.
- Support year end audit work related to Board of Trustee conflict of interest, auditor confirmations, and management of the auditors prepared by client list and workpaper portal.
- Act as the corporate credit card administrator for changes in credit limit, fraud, reconciliation, and recording to the general ledger, flagging any issues to the Controller.
- Assist with the information and analysis necessary to produce Board and Committee reports.
- Provide administrative support to members of the Investment, Finance, and Audit Committees, including providing information and documents and answering comments as appropriate.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- One to two years of experience using an integrated accounting system (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable/cash receipts).
- Solid understanding of general accounting and fund accounting concepts.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience using systems to generate reports on a regular basis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information confidently.
- Excellent organization, program management, planning, and administrative skills with ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple activities to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work effectively with senior management and colleagues at all levels.
- Able to maintain a strict level of confidentiality, discretion, judgment, tact, and diplomacy in all matters.
