The core business hours for DNS are 8:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday. This hybrid position can be performed with 2 days remote, and 3 days on Cornell's Ithaca campus in Kinzelberg Hall. Remote workdays will be mutually determined between you and your supervisor.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee pre-and post-award sponsored award administration, budgeting, analyses, forecasting, tracking and reporting for unique and complex projects, such as training grants, research centers, and large international service contracts;
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and systems and analytical expertise in delivery of reporting, data, analyses, and key performance indicators in support of Division finances, human resources, and programs for Division administration, external audiences, program directors, and principal investigators;
  • Contribute to recommendations and guidance on development and implementation of financial management strategies, policies, and procedures;
  • Manage financial projections and appointment processes for employees and graduate students in collaborating with faculty, program directors, student services, and department leadership, develop funding projections and plans; advise on and manage graduate fellowship, teaching assistantship, and other division support resources;
  • Oversee and report on a portfolio of non-sponsored programs and division finances;
  • Advise on and execute HR and financial transactions for international and specialized programs.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field and 3 to 5 years relevant experience in financial management in a complex, decentralized, organization, or equivalent combination.
  • Advanced proficiency using modern technology, systems, and software to effectively and efficiently extract, manage, and report data, develop and explain analyses, and monitor and streamline operations.
  • Outstanding customer service, analysis, communication, organizational, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of individuals, lead and effectively work with teams, and navigate formal and informal decision-making networks.
  • Experience using enterprise systems for data extraction, reporting, and operations support; ability to effectively convey data to various audiences.
  • Ability to understand strategic goals in context, develop tactics, provide relevant data and analyses to inform decision-making, and provide effective guidance to leadership.
  • Project and operations management and process improvement experience.
  • Exceptional analytical, reporting, and data presentation skills, including effectively utilizing advanced spreadsheets and databases; investigating and understanding data elements and how they represent operations.
  • Ability to navigate policies and procedures related to international programs and complex contract terms and billings.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years in a financial management in a complex, decentralized, organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of sponsored projects and related pre- and post-award procedures, regulations, and researcher goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of New York State appropriation, extension, and research awards.
  • Project or team leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft, 25Live, Outlook, and computers connected to a central host.
  • Previous experience in event management or support, including familiarity with scheduling software.
