Exhibit Tech Assistant

Description:

The Exhibit Tech Assistant is a valued team member of the exhibits/ buildings and grounds department, which is responsible for ensuring that the exhibits, as well as the buildings and grounds, are being presented to the standards that are expected by MASM as a first-class science museum. Responsibilities include cleaning exhibits and documenting any known issues for the techs to look at. Cleaning duties also include picking up trash from the front parking lot and paths, leaf blowing the paths, keeping the shops clean. The Exhibit Tech Assistant must be a team player who is willing to help other team members as needed. This position also works after hours events as requested and participates in the overall cleanliness of the museum. Superior guest service is the primary goal of all team members of Mid America Science Museum therefore, the Exhibit Tech Assistant must be willing to guide, inform and assist guests in a cheerful and engaging manner.

Department: Exhibits, Buildings and Grounds

Reports to: Director of Exhibits and Facilities

Experience Required: Training provided on site, however, being able to work around and communicate with large crowds of people, having a good work ethic and good sense of organization is recommended.

Description of Duties:

• Responsible for overall museum appearance and cleanliness.

• Manages organizing departmental supplies and tools.

• Documents and issues with exhibits using exhibit check sheets and informs techs of any issues needing taken care of.

• Assists with grounds maintenance, trash removal and walkway cleaning.

• Works with techs to prepare for and install traveling exhibits.

• Participates in training exercises provided by the museum.

• Assists in opening and closing the museum daily.

• Must work proportionate share of after- hour events.

• Other duties as assigned.
