Executive Director Of Development

 

Description:

The Executive Director will advise and consult with administrative and academic leaders, volunteers, UW colleagues, and other Development staff to identify, cultivate and solicit major outright and deferred gift prospects. This position works across all University programs and departments and works closely with a broad spectrum of individuals. This position will ensure that members of the team are building lifelong, high-touch, strategic relationships with UW alumni and friends and focusing on increasing philanthropic support for the University.

What You Will Do:
 

  • Provide leadership and manage the Regional Development team.
  • Work with Annual Philanthropy and Prospect Development teams to ensure effective qualification and cultivation practices are in place, with the goal of increasing regional donors and major donors.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects for major outright and deferred gifts in support of University priorities.
  • Provide strategic leadership to deans, faculty, and administrators in designing and implementing advancement programs needed to sustain regional major gift support.
  • Coordinate the participation of administrators, academic leaders, volunteers, and Advancement staff in major gift fundraising activities.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects. Develop and implement a solicitation strategy for each assigned prospect. Prepare written proposals, informational materials, endowment agreements, gift illustrations and other materials needed to secure major gifts. Participate cooperatively in the University’s prospect management and tracking system.
  • Work cooperatively with staff in the Planned Giving, Annual Philanthropy, Principal Giving, Alumni and Stakeholder Engagement, UW Marketing and Communications, Government Relations, Corporate and Foundation Relations, and school/college/program Chief Advancement Officers in identifying and cultivating donors, as well as preparing solicitation strategies for assigned prospects. 
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in institutional development/advancement, with an emphasis on cultivating and soliciting major gifts.
