The Opportunity:
 

  • Accountable for Early Clinical Development (ECD) portfolio clinical strategy, and ensuring that programs have the essential data within programs to enable timely decision making that is essential in the drug development process. The role will include aligning to planning assumptions across Roche (Research Review Committee (RRC), Early Stage Portfolio Committee (ESPC) and the ESPC/LSPC as they relate to key transitions from research to ECD through PivGo. The role will align PVC spend to the key decision points within programs to ensure that budget targets are clear and communication flows efficiently between ECD functions to the critical decision boards.
  • Drive cross-functional strategic planning and execution of organizational strategic initiatives in close partnership with the SVP of Early Clinical Development to support ECD’s core mission
  • Create a portfolio-wide strategic plan that includes (ESPC and LSPC) insights for molecule specific drug development, portfolio throughput, timelines and milestones, risk assessments, productivity, and innovation strategies for Early Clinical Development
  • Build and manages key relationships with senior leaders across Roche (e.g. Business Development, Finance, Procurement, gRED Bus Ops, PD Bus Ops, pRED, etc) to ensure effective business planning, interfaces, and processes for ECD that align well across the enterprise
  • Serve as strategic thought-partner and trusted advisor to the SVP and Head of Early Clinical Development on all business portfolio strategies and solutions
  • Responsible to organize and prioritize critical issues and required information for the SVP of Early Clinical Development to facilitate efficient execution and decision making
  • Accountable for the organizational and strategic leadership of a high performing, lean, agile, and well-aligned Clinical Portfolio and Financial Planning organization that is critical to the success of ECD
     

Who You Are:
 

  • An experienced organizational leader with 15+ years of drug development, financial and resource planning, strategy, and/ or operations with an advanced degree in sciences or engineering or equivalent industry experience. Ph.D with business experience preferred
  • A critical thinker and visionary, strategic leader with the ability to deliver on the current portfolio while also building innovative capabilities, implementing new processes effectively, and driving effective change management for future needs
  • Strong, clear, concise, and influential communicator with exceptional influencing skills who demonstrates strong thought partnership and creates effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery of the pipeline
  • Exceptional ability to ensure a high performing organization, identify and develop talent, delegate effectively with proven capability to lead, motivate, inspire, and collaborate effectively in a diverse, global, cross-functional structure
  • Excellent understanding of the impact of clinical development has on current and future portfolio needs and ability to develop strategies to combine and drive scientific and executional excellence together with other leaders in ECD
  • Highly skilled in strategic thinking, planning, and execution with proven impact, experience in change management, and continuous improvement; Proven track to effectively partner with executive leaders in scientific/technical organizations
