Description:
The Executive Director/Development Director of Bakhita Mountain Home is a dual leadership role responsible for overseeing the overall operations and management of the organization's 2-year residential program. This position plays a critical role in fundraising,promoting the organization's work, and cultivating relationships with diverse supporters and the community. The Executive Director must bring experience in trauma-informed practice, building cross-agency relationships, fundraising, grant writing, leadership and community engagement. The Executive Director will provide leadership, oversight, and program supervision for staff, volunteers, and participants. Key responsibilities include ensuring the success of the program, the well-being of staff and volunteers, and fostering positive community perceptions. Direct reports include the Social Worker Residential Program Manager. The Executive Director also ensures coverage for their duties during temporary absences.
Essential Functions:
Financial Management and Fundraising:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet organizational goals
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners
- Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns
- Manage donor database and ensure accurate record keeping
- Prepare grant proposals and reports for funders
- Collaborate with the board of directors to create and implement strategic plans
- Oversee the development and execution of marketing and communication materials
- Utilize digital marketing platforms, such as social media and email, to promote fundraising initiatives
- Monitor and analyze fundraising data to measure success and identify areas for improvement
- Manage organization budget and ensure funds are allocated appropriately
Organizational Performance:
- Oversee day-to-day operations efficiently
- Develop positive relationships with national and community partners
- Maintain resident, staff, volunteer, and donor records
- Stay informed about developments in trauma-informed care
Program Development and Oversight:
- Design, implement, and evaluate high-quality programs
- Ensure proper leadership involvement in program planning with agency partners
Board Partnership:
- Serve as an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors
- Collaborate on long-range strategies and organizational expectations
- Provide leadership in policy and program development
Staff and Volunteers:
- Oversee recruitment, employment, and release of personnel
- Ensure effective team building and succession planning
- Promote broad volunteer participation in organizational work
Qualifications:
In order to be considered for the position, candidates must be a proven leader with a track record of demonstrated results in fundraising and organizational leadership.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, public relations)- Master's preferred
- Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising or development role
- Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, strategies, and best practices
- Familiarity with software systems used in development operations (e.g., donor databases)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to think strategically and develop innovative fundraising approaches
- Experience in budgeting and financial management
- At least five (5) years’ experience in managing employees and programs
- Strong team-building and project management skills
- Intermediate-to-advanced computer software skills
- Strong grasp of financial sustainability and expertise in budget developmen
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, retain, and support staff and volunteers
- Demonstrated experience in successful fundraising campaigns and grant writing
