Executive Director

 

Description:

We are seeking an individual who shares our values to lead our organization’s rapid growth and to design and direct strategic actions that support and enhance operations. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, as well as exceptional fundraising, planning and organizing abilities. The Executive Director must have the ability to maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrate a strong results orientation and team building skills, achieve organizational goals, possess strong fundraising skills, and maintain comprehensive financial practices. Our Executive Director will be hands-on, serving as "player-coach" in a variety of capacities, and must be able to manage a lean, growing organization, and manage a large group of volunteers.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Partner with the Board of Directors and its committees, advising, informing, assessing, and addressing issues that affect the organization.
  • Oversee the execution and growth of MedTech Color’s signature annual events and programs – the MedTech Color Pitch Competition, the MedTech Color Annual Networking Breakfast, and the MedTech Color Collaborative Community.
  • Serve as the primary fundraising and development officer of the organization.
  • Set and execute the fundraising strategy for the organization. Establish and accomplish progressive annual fundraising goals, in partnership with the Board of Directors, to secure financial support from foundations, corporations, individuals, and government funding sources.
  • Create and execute strategies to drive paid individual member growth beyond 150 by the end of 2024.
  • Lead the application process for grants and other financial opportunities to generate program funding.
  • Develop and oversee annual and regular fundraising events and all external marketing communication materials including the MedTech Color website, promotional materials, newsletters and social media content.
  • Support the daily operations of the organization, providing executive guidance on program strategy, compliance, quality assurance, and program efficiency.
  • Manage and develop internal staff members.
  • Identify and implement hiring requirements for efficient operations. Maintain a strong culture and work climate that attracts and retains staff and drives the organization’s mission.
  • Represent the organization and increase awareness of our mission and activities by being the point person and liaison with media, service providers and consultants.
  • Participate in external events to increase visibility and expand the brand in the market. Represent MedTech Color on Webinars and other media partnership opportunities. Participate in 3+ speaking engagements per quarter.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with corporate ERGs (Employee Resource / Affinity Groups) to increase community awareness, membership and expand the program.
  • Increase participation options for students. Develop and deepen connections with universities, especially Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU’s), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI’s) and other campuses serving majority People of Color.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Science, Engineering or a related field. Advanced Degree preferred.
  • 5 to 7+ years of senior management experience. Nonprofit leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong fundraising skills and experience.
  • Ability to develop and expand multiple streams of revenue including corporate donations, sponsorships, earned income, grants, and paid memberships.
  • Understanding of and experience with the grant process.
  • Values diversity and recognizes the need to expand opportunities for the People of Color.
  • Strong public relations, and marketing experience.
  • Thoughtful leader, able to balance long-term growth objectives with short-term tactics and planning.
  • Knowledge of and experience with leadership principles related to nonprofit management.
  • Proven success working with a Board of Directors.
  • Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with corporate and nonprofit partners, academia, staff and media alike. Effective collaborator who can connect with audiences and influence as needed.
