TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Prepares venue for various events held at the facility (e.g., weddings, receptions, banquets, conventions, entertainment, sporting, etc.) by discussing events with the venue Director or Deputy Director, Event Manager, talking with staff, and assigning tasks, assisting staff in the setup, ensuring the room and equipment are clean and informing maintenance of any lighting or outlet malfunctions.
  • Talks with clients who have rented the facilities for an event to discuss their specific needs, explain logistic limitations of the facility, answer their questions and to address any concerns.
  • Assists the Event Setup Assistant and/or Laborers in pulling out the necessary equipment (e.g., tables, chairs, linens, etc.) from storage rooms and placing the equipment onto carts.
  • Performs various maintenance and custodial tasks by inspecting the facility for plumbing, lighting, HVAC, and other issues (clogged/leaking drains or water lines, malfunctioning lights, un-sanitized areas etc.) to ensure the venue is clean and areas are operational before and after events.
  • Cleans tables, chairs, floors, and equipment using cleaning supplies (e.g., brooms, mops, cleaning solutions, etc.) to ensure the room and equipment are left clean.
  • Supervises staff by assigning and distributing work, directing staff in their job duties, monitoring progress of work, providing feedback and/or training.
  • Schedules staff (e.g., Event Set up Assistant and/or Laborers) to work events depending on the needs of the specific event.
  • Maintains inventory of various supplies (e.g., paper goods, cleaning products, concession supplies, etc.) by keeping a count of supplies, scheduling appointments for re-orders with contracted vendors, ensuring the order is approved and placed, and verifying that the order is delivered correctly.
  • Reviews the order form completed by the vendor and gives it to the secretary to requisition an order number.
  • Verifies that all items ordered are received by checking the order form when the order is delivered.

  • Driver’s license.
  • Experience setting up tables, chairs, and equipment for various events (e.g., receptions, conventions, meetings, sporting events, concerts) by following diagrams and written instructions.
  • Experience assembling stages to include the platform, steps, and safety rails (e.g., connecting and locking panels, leveling stage).
  • Experience in customer service (e.g., resolving customer complaints, identifying customer concerns).
