Responsibilities
- Assists in planning, organizing, and implementing HR functions within EOCE. Provides high-level support, assists in developing and implementing long-range goals and objectives, and assists in achieving strategic initiatives related to applicable EOCE functions. Supports and keeps the Director informed of significant developments and initiatives involving relative programs.
- Conducts investigations of allegations of discrimination, harassment, and/or retaliation in compliance with FSU policies and procedures and various federal and state laws, including, but not limited to, Fair Employment practices, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Advises individuals on the complaint process, available resources, and interim measures; plans the investigation processes; conducts interviews; identifies and collects relevant documentation; analyzes evidence; drafts investigation reports.
- Ensures reports, intakes, investigations, and resolutions are reliable, timely, confidential, and impartial.
- Develops, coordinates, and facilitates training of University staff on the fundamentals of Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action Plan, Sexual Harassment. and any specialized training as needed.
- The EOCE Compliance Generalist supports the University's efforts in providing an inclusive and harassment-free learning and working environment for its students, faculty, and staff.
- Responsibilities include responding to, assessing, investigating, and tracking, disclosures of potential unlawful discrimination and harassment (including sexual misconduct) and/or university policy violations based on protected categories.
- The incumbent works with parties to provide supportive measures ; integrate best practices in compliance, investigations, and education; collaborates with other University departments on discrimination and harassment prevention initiatives; keep up to date on new relevant legislation and legal and investigation practices; and provide support on special projects as may be in alignment with EOCE initiatives.
- This position takes a unique skill set. The successful candidate can work well under pressure, remaining calm and professional while balancing compliance, discretion, and customer service. They should also be able to easily engage with others across diverse backgrounds while being assertive, and diplomatic at the same time.
Qualifications
Master's degree and four years of experience related to administrative services; or a bachelor's degree and six years of the same experience. (Note: post high-school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate.)
