This position is located at the Bridge Office in Oakdale, Minnesota. This position will have the flexibility work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to complete a telework agreement if working a hybrid schedule.

This position exists to perform bridge load ratings/posting and oversize/overweight permitting for trunk highway bridges. It will utilize the necessary bridge load rating, posting process, and permitting guidance, state and American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO) specifications to assure that load ratings meet the latest state policies and federal regulations. Responsibilities are to:

• Perform bridge load ratings on trunk highway bridges and maintain the bridge load rating database.
• Assist in developing strategies, evaluating risks, planning resources, and implementing the conversion of Load & Resistance Factor Rating (LRFR) for processing overweight permits.
• Analyzing bridges for the application of oversize and overweight vehicle permits on trunk highway system.
• Assist in maintaining the bridge pier cap analysis list.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)
• Experience in bridge design
• Experience performing bridge load rating analysis
• Experience interpreting and applying standards, policies, laws, statutes, etc.
