Job Responsibilities:

• Planning and design of transportation-related facilities
• Familiarity of the NCDOT Roadway Design Manual and AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design
• Supporting Senior Staff in a variety of tasks in the field of transportation design
• Designing horizontal and vertical roadway geometry
• Preparing various stages of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Drafting technical reports
• Assistance in developing drainage and utility designs
• Conducting field visits during design or construction
• Participating in client and public meetings

Required Skills:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
• 5+ years' experience in the field of transportation engineering
• EIT required; NC PE preferred. If the PE license is not in NC, must have the ability to get reciprocity.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team and able to thrive in a busy environment with multiple assignments
• The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills
• Demonstrate working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Demonstrate experience with MicroStation V8i, OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and OpenRoads, ConceptStation.
