Eli Lilly and Company seeks an Engineer – Automation with expertise with Automation Technologies to lead efforts to better engineer automation projects on all platforms. Automation/Control Discipline and Technical Leadership – Partner with colleagues to lead the discipline through solution assessment, reuse, and development. Manage tools, engineering standards, master specifications and best practices. Automation Design – Provide support to manufacturing sites and Global Facilities Delivery during project profiling and design. Ensure project design meets intended requirements, consider life cycle cost, and eliminate non-value add complexity. Use replication and best practices to optimize project cost. Support or lead of Automation deliverables. Automation Delivery – support key corporate initiatives with technical and project leadership to deliver robust automation systems, including major Capital Delivery and partnerships between Lilly Engineering and IT. Optimization and Control – Increase benefits of automation and control solutions while driving life-cycle costs down. Apply automation solutions to meet site, network, and business unit objectives for productivity, quality, and cost. Assist sites globally with technical planning, technology assessments, process control troubleshooting, and root cause analysis. External Influence and Benchmarking - Monitor and influence, when appropriate, changes in external codes and standards on Lilly’s behalf, and work to ensure ongoing compliance within Lilly. Extract benchmarking information from academia and industry. #LI-DNI
Position requires Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Process Automation Engineer working on a DeltaV Automation system. Work experience must include: experience implementing and troubleshooting industrial control systems; problem-solving experience on automation platforms (DeltaV specifically); experience with DeltaV hardware and software to automate industrial processes; and experience with process automation project delivery, specifically utilizing the DeltaV control system platform. Domestic and international travel approximately 20% of an average work week required. Telecommuting permitted one day/week.
