The electrician is to make sure that all the electric components are working and has a supply of electricity. Troubleshoots the various panels, controls, etc., when an electric problem arises. Installs, tests, repairs and replaces electrical and mechanical circuits, devices, equipment, appliances and life safety systems. Maintains all equipment related to mechanical and electrical equipment operation throughout the hospital and all related buildings.
Essential Functions:
- Reads, understands and interprets specifications and electrical blueprints of the facility in order to identify the various branches of the electrical system.
- Has primary responsibility for all electrical systems and electrical portions of other systems for the site.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the principal components of the electrical system.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs devices associated with the electrical distribution system such as: circuit breakers, fuses, relays, contractors, transfer switches, terminal boxes and motors.
- Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs alarm systems, medical gas alarm systems, clinical air and vacuum systems, boiler alarm systems, other life safety systems, etc.
- Maintains accurate records of all installations and repairs.
- Able to interpret the National Electrical Code, Ohio Basic Building Code, JCAHO standards, and other pertinent information.
- Accurately researches and orders parts for the performance of the job using appropriate policies and safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or directed, including non-electrical duties.
- Assist in the installation and perform basic maintenance.
- Help troubleshoot and repair fire alarm systems and equipment.
- Assist specialized mechanics in the performance of their duties.
- All paperwork such as work orders, work documentation reports, logs, PM’s are done complete accurate and on time.
- Performs other duties as directed by manager
