Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine SHAPM contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.
Team Submarine’s Submarine Program Offices are responsible for:
- The acquisition of the OHIO Class replacement and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the COLUMBIA Class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
- The acquisition of New Construction Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy’s newest class of nuclear attack submarines. The program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B. Additionally, successful improvement of the Class’s capabilities is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).
Serco-NA is seeking a motivated engineer to provide engineering and programmatic support to one of our customers with the U.S. Navy in the Washington, DC area.
In this role, you will:
- Provide engineering and systems engineering support to the Program Office.
- Prepare and execute environmental documentation for exercises as it required by US law.
- Recommend course of action(s) for unexpected technical and programmatic issues related to RDT&E.
- Generate Acquisition documentation for Milestone Reviews.
- Perform technical planning, cost, schedule, risk, supportability, and effectiveness analysis for total systems; analyses performed at concept, design, test, evaluation, and operational phases.
- Review and develop analytical and technical input needed in order to evaluate documentation and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely and essential information is provided to decision makers.
- Prepare unclassified and classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag Level.
- Attend meetings and specified Program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Set high personal standards for performance and conduct.
- Demonstrate ability to be a team player; work well with others; contribute positively to work/team environment while continually seeking ways to enhance contribution to the team.
- Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Perform a variety of tasks under general supervision.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree (Physics, Chemistry, etc.).
- Have zero to two years’ experience.
- A current or active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- The ability to travel at least 10% of the time.
