Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the Blue Origin Environmental Health and Safety Manual and other applicable policies and plans. Provide review and support of current policies and plans as required.
- Interpret new regulations, determine their applicability to organization procedures and standards, and devise strategies and procedures for compliance.
- Work directly with work groups to drive EHS compliance and continuous improvements that have direct positive impact on EHS culture; advise supervisors and management on the best methods to resolve EHS concerns including engineering controls, work practice controls, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Anticipate and recognize hazards, evaluate exposures, and offer control methods to protect employees from risks.
- Lead or assist in all aspects of incident reporting including initial follow-up, investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Perform audits as applicable and participate in pre and post meetings, review of findings and opportunities for improvement, implement approved corrective actions, follow-up for effectiveness after completion.
- Deliver virtual presentations or instruction-led to management and employees on EHS initiatives, metrics/measurements, and implementation plans.
- Serve as an advocate for the continuous improvement of comprehensive EHS processes, procedures and programs; effectively communicate challenges, successes, and areas of concern with management when potential hazards and risks are identified.
- Create, update, and coordinate emergency response plans with state and local emergency planning committees as required. Collaborating with state and federal regulatory agencies and preparing reports as required.
- Conduct routine facility inspections (i.e., emergency egress, electrical, machine guarding, chemical, working walking surfaces, etc.) to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Work with hazardous waste storage and disposal
- Potential exposure to: high temperature, high pressure, high current and respiratory hazards, chemicals, flammable/toxic gases, and some radiation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, and proven industry specific EHS experience in aerospace, chemical/delivery systems, or industrial manufacturing setting or similar; relevant certifications will be considered to support years of experience required
- Strong communication, engagement, and excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong OSHA and other safety related training and delivery
- Environmental permitting experience
- Proficient digital literacy are preferred, specifically with Microsoft products including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
- Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations in Washington
- Knowledge of Process Safety Management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems
- Knowledge of close call reporting practices and processes
- Good analytical skills and attention to details, technical writing, with an ability to interpret and communicate complex technical information
- Candidate must be able to lift/carry up to fifty pounds. Must be able to physically climb multiple flights stairs, withstand prolonged standing, and work in adverse weather conditions
- Open to working a 1st shift schedule.
