Education Manager

Description:

Edelman Fossil Park & Museum is seeking an Education Manager to lead our educational initiatives in natural history, paleontology, geology, and sustainability. Responsibilities include leading public fossil digs, developing educational content, hosting school groups, training volunteers, and collaborating on the development of museum exhibits and public programming. Superb public speaking skills, an infectious passion for Earth history, and a commitment to pushing back on the biodiversity and climate crises are essential. Enthusiasm for outdoor work, paleontology/geology knowledge, and strong writing skills are required. Experience in teaching, fieldwork, fossil preparation, and grant proposals are advantageous. An ability to thrive in a fast-moving, mission-driven startup culture is a must. This role reports directly to the Director of Public Programming.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in the geosciences or in science education is required.

● Master's degree in the geosciences or in science education is a strong plus.

● Teaching experience and museum experience is advantageous.

● Ability to supervise at least one full time staff member, and a group of volunteers.

● Must be an enthusiastic public speaker with a passion for Earth history and education.

● Must be dedicated to addressing the biodiversity and climate crises.

● Within geoscience, particular knowledge of dinosaurs and Cretaceous Period fauna is a plus.

● Field experience and fossil preparation experience is desirable.

● Strong writing skills are required for development of educational material and occasional proposal preparation.

● Must be a highly collaborative, mission-driven person.

● A valid driver’s license, your own vehicle, and an ability to engage in moderately strenuous all-weather outdoor activity are required.
