Education Facilitator

WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:

• Engage Visitors: Engage with visitors on a regular basis in a respectful and approachable manner with enthusiasm and a zest for exploring the exhibits and topics in the museum Continually develop in-depth knowledge of all exhibits in order to have meaningful conversations with visitors and provide general museum guidance. Facilitate existing and new educational programs as they are developed. Monitor and run flight simulator efficiently. Act as a field trip facilitator; answer any questions students or teachers may have regarding exhibits, ensure students are interacting with exhibits safely, provide educational support for field trip lead, and occasionally run field trip workshops if or when needed. Assist with programs and after-hours events as needed. Handle and resolve guest concerns in a positive manner to provide an excellent visitor experience. Stay informed on current Museum programs and events to communicate with visitors. Collaborate with the education department to offer knowledge and support on new programs or activities. Attend all staff meetings and regular training. Serve as a mentor to support new facilitators.

• Clean and Prep Exhibits: Responsible for opening and closing all floors and exhibits efficiently and properly. Responsible for ensuring floor areas and exhibits are clean and in good condition. Ensure all materials and resources needed to run tabletop activities are stocked, properly organized, and cleaned regularly. Communicate regularly with visitors regarding museum policies and safety procedures to correct inappropriate behavior. Work with the admissions team to ensure communication and common goals for a positive visitor experience. Operate ADA elevator, so those in wheelchairs have access to the airplane. Assist managers on duty in the event of an emergency (lost child, evacuations, or medical emergency).

• Community Outreach: Staff any outreach booths within the community designed to enhance the name of The Leonardo and/or attract high-quality future employees. Take photos and document “awesome” moments within the museum to share with museum staff and provide to The Leo’s marketing team for use in marketing and social media efforts.
