Donor Relations Manager

 

Description:

The Donor Relations Manager, Principal, and Major Gifts foster important donor relationships between the Field Museum and its benefactors, promoting positive attitudes toward giving among current and prospective donors. This position develops and implements short and long-term stewardship plans, maximizing the ability of the Principal and Major Giving teams to build quality donor relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates and implements annual stewardship plan for Major Gifts team, including individualized, long-term plans for specific benefactors
  • Drafts and compiles reports to individuals and family foundations on the use of their contributed funds
  • Manages visits and events by donors and prospects to the Museum, including arranging behind-the-scenes tours and planning/hosting targeted donor events
  • Handles mailings, including Holiday Cards, Holiday Gifts, and other communications, as needed
  • Coordinates signage and donor recognition within the Museum, including administering signage and recognition standards
  • Manages the Museum's Travel Program for Major Donors (2-3 international trips per year)
  • Handles logistics for the Edward E. Ayer Society (the Museum's planned giving recognitions group), including mailings and events
  • Manages other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • A minimum of four years of experience in development is required, preferably in a cultural or academic organization
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills
  • Project management and project coordination skills required, with strong organizational skills and an eye for detail
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge software or a similar software program, including an understanding of proposals, actions, and queries
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and proactively manage multiple projects simultaneously; high energy, focus, and a collaborative spirit
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse group of external and internal constituents
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission of the Field Museum
