Responsibilities:
- Act as liaison for the docents and volunteers who are essential to making the Skirball Cultural Center a place of welcome and learning
- Prepare bi-weekly docent and volunteer announcement emails via MailChimp
- Prepare invoices and tracks budget related to volunteer and docent program expenses
- Coordinate the program’s calendar of workshops, speakers, training sessions, and recognition events to build community and strengthen best practices
- Assist in training and evaluating docents to provide inclusive and dialogue-based in-gallery tours for diverse audiences; model best practices for tour facilitation and provide feedback, observation, and coaching
- Assist in training and evaluating volunteers to provide warm and welcoming services to the Skirball’s general visitors; model best practices for customer service and provide feedback, observation, and coaching
- Work closely with the managers of frontline staff to align visitor engagement strategies and customer service practices/policies across areas, and to ensure that visitors have a positive and meaningful experience
Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes:
- Exceptional skills, track record, and interest in excellent customer service, attention to detail, planning, organizing, scheduling, problem-solving, and tracking programs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to developing productive relationships, both within and beyond the institution; team player with a warm and welcoming manner, patience, diplomacy, and ability to work well with people of different ages, communities, and work styles
- Self-starter approach to completing projects, as well as improving processes and procedures
- Excellent Microsoft Office and PC skills
- Preferred: prior experience working with adult volunteer populations; lnowledge of and experience with content management systems FileMaker Pro, Altru, and MailChimp; knowledge of Jewish history and culture; ability to speak Spanish
