Description:

Journey is assisting a client in Chicago, IL & Phoenix, AZ in hiring a Director of Sales for their shipper-facing freight brokerage operations. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in freight sales, team building, and client acquisition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a shipper-focused sales team within a freight brokerage.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to expand customer base and revenue.
  • Hire, train, and mentor sales representatives to enhance performance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships within the logistics and transportation industry.
  • Oversee rate negotiation, RFPs/RFQs, and business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiencies.
  • Monitor sales performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a manager/director-level role at a freight brokerage.
  • Proven experience building and leading sales teams.
  • Strong knowledge of freight brokerage, transportation logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, sales analytics, and revenue growth strategies.
  • Exceptional negotiation, prospecting, and client relationship management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with third-party logistics (3PL), OTR transport, bulk freight, and specialized freight services.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise solutions and business development strategies.
