Description:
Journey is assisting a client in Chicago, IL & Phoenix, AZ in hiring a Director of Sales for their shipper-facing freight brokerage operations. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in freight sales, team building, and client acquisition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a shipper-focused sales team within a freight brokerage.
- Develop and execute sales strategies to expand customer base and revenue.
- Hire, train, and mentor sales representatives to enhance performance.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships within the logistics and transportation industry.
- Oversee rate negotiation, RFPs/RFQs, and business development initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiencies.
- Monitor sales performance metrics and adjust strategies as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in a manager/director-level role at a freight brokerage.
- Proven experience building and leading sales teams.
- Strong knowledge of freight brokerage, transportation logistics, and supply chain management.
- Proficiency in CRM tools, sales analytics, and revenue growth strategies.
- Exceptional negotiation, prospecting, and client relationship management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with third-party logistics (3PL), OTR transport, bulk freight, and specialized freight services.
- Strong understanding of enterprise solutions and business development strategies.
