Description:
Oversee all aspects of the Events department to include room rental, customer service, marketing, preparing department budget and personnel management
Duties and responsibilities
- Lead and manage all operations of the events department
- Hire, train, schedule and manage all events staff
- Actively sell and book Museum facilities
- Negotiating and managing all rental and booking contracts
- Meet with clients to coordinate event details
- Manage onsite events and oversee bar operations
- Book adult group tours that require room rental/catering services
- Acting as official liaison between internal staff, vendors and clients
- Participate in marketing the museum’s events and facilities
- Create annual budget for the events department
- Set annual rates for rentals and update event policies and procedures as needed
- Coordinate museum’s annual gala
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- BA in business, events management or related field
- Minimum of three years’ experience in events management, preferably with managerial responsibilities
- Strong attention to detail and strong computer and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service and people skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to work well with others in a team situation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
