Description:
The Director of Enterprise Applications will lead the strategic direction of enterprise applications for Teachers College. The incumbent will serve as an expert technical resource and key partner for the College regarding ERP systems and related applications, data, and integrations. Working with the CIO, peer IT Directors, school leadership, and both administrative and academic stakeholders, they will be responsible for the overall design, integration, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvements of critical applications and related technology.
The Director of Enterprise Applications will direct and implement best practices for development, integration, data standards, master data management, vendor selection and management, as well as being responsible for key academic and business unit outcomes reliant on application technology and integration. They will lead a team of approximately 15 IT professionals of varying levels of experience, requiring effective collaboration within a large and complex organization. They will manage the relationship with key technology partners, vendors, and consultants as well as help manage the entire systems lifecycle from idea proposal to retirement/replacement.
This position will work to improve critical administrative and academic outcomes by continuously evaluating and evolving the existing applications portfolio and working collaboratively to define continuous improvement as the needs and opportunities change. This position will also be responsible for evolving the school’s data warehouse, data management strategy, CRM, HCM, SaaS, and business intelligence environments.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interacts with all levels of administration as needed to determine client needs and the College’s
priorities. Reviews, approves, and escalates proposals for changes, improvements, and upgrades to application systems, software acquisitions, and upgrades to critical solutions.
Works with clients, leadership, and sponsors to manage information systems projects, including all phases of system development. Provides leadership and mentoring for all activities of the Enterprise Applications team, consisting of managers, programmers/analysts, system administrators, database administrator, web and app developers, as well as consultants and temporary staff.
Provides strategic leadership and subject matter expertise for School-wide technology administration, strategic planning, and implementation of key services.
Manages and ensures unified integration among disparate systems, provides leadership to align data administration, integrity, and integration issues among sensitive areas. Oversees and implements the College’s master data management (MDM) strategy.
Collaborates with the CIO, peer directors, managers, and College stakeholders to identify opportunities to evolve systems architecture, integration, best of breed applications, and data to best meet strategic goals of the College.
Plans for the College’s future academic and administrative need for technology and related services. Works with key business stakeholders to plan budgets, analyze costs, and create effective strategic planning for changes to enterprise applications. Provides input to client areas to prepare for service operations and support.
Stays abreast of new technologies, methods, and industry standards. Provides consulting and best practices to departments by understanding their core business needs and recommending appropriate solutions. Works with principal vendors and partners to recommend effective platforms and services. Effectively communicates the College’s needs for future technology investments while clearly articulating the business needs.
Maintains appropriate security measures and policies relating to access control, DevSecOps and data privacy. In partnership with TCIT’s security and privacy team, collaborates with appropriate departments to ensure high availability and confidentiality of information.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and/or 10+ years of relevant experience required.
Experience leading Banner, Ellucian, Oracle, Salesforce, and/or other similar best-of-breed enterprise technologies.
Experience managing complex projects involving both internal development as well as external partnerships relying on consultants, vendors, and integrators.
Comfortable serving as the School’s subject matter expert (SME) for all facets of enterprise application workflows, data management solutions, and the ability to work strategically to evolve these services with modern software and practices.
Develops, leads and directs ERP and enterprise applications operations and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning, support, as well as organizes and negotiates the allocation of resources.
A strong desire to help improve outcomes for the largest and first Graduate School of Education in the country.
Ability to consult with business and academic units and provide actionable leadership to meet end goals.
Demonstrated team leadership skills that attract, develop, and retain strong talent, as well as the ability to work up, down, and across the organization in a complex and diverse environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey highly complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proven history of managing enterprise projects across every phase of the entire SDLC.
Clear history of success as a developer, system administrator, solutions architect, and/or consultant.
Outstanding customer service skills dedicated to creating and supporting ideal solutions for non-technical users. An ability to be consultative, creative, and collaborative.
Experience deploying and supporting both on-premise and cloud-based solutions. History of transitioning services to the cloud and implementing SaaS.
Proven business analysis and requirements gathering experience.
Ability to work in a complex environment and manage competing deadlines and competing priorities.
Understanding of current trends and best practices of application development, ERP systems, HCM, CRM, on premise environments, and SaaS solutions.
Occasionally required to work outside of normal business hours to support critical outages, upgrades, and installations of a 24/7/365 application stack.
