Description:
The Director of Development is responsible for managing a portfolio of 125-150 donors with gift capacities of $100,000 or more. Tasked with advancing the School’s major gift pipeline comprised of undergraduate and MBA/graduate alumni, parents, and friends, the Director will facilitate high-level, personalized engagement strategies to support long -range plans for prospects’ involvement in the School while maximizing philanthropic yield during and after the University’s $3B comprehensive campaign, Called to Be. As part of this work, the Director is expected to collaborate closely with fellow gift officers, senior leadership, faculty, and colleagues throughout Georgetown to help ensure that outreach to top-level constituents is coordinated and effective.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, MSB, the Director will establish key metrics throughout the year to support their performance, including an agreed upon number of current and prospective donor visits, proposals delivered/asks made and dollars raised. Moving prospects through the complete giving cycle of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, gift negotiation, and stewardship, the Director is tasked to raise $1,000,000-$3,000,000 annually as the portfolio matures.
To meet their annual targets, the Director will travel independently to meet prospective and current donors as well as staff principals and faculty members on major deployments in the Director’s respective regions. These engagements will be informed by an existing portfolio, and will also be enhanced with a significant degree of prospect qualification required to grow the School’s major gift pipeline.
Work Interactions
The Director reports to the Senior Director of Development, MSB, and works collaboratively with the other members of the MSB development team. Within the School, the Director will also work closely with the MSB leadership team, including the dean, their staff, and faculty leads, in order to be able to effectively articulate the case for support, vision, and mission of the McDonough School of Business.
Across the Office of Advancement (OA), the Director will partner with OA colleagues, with a heavy emphasis on collaboration with other development teams, including with other unit, regional and centrally-based development officers, to help with idea generation, planning, and execution of creative cultivation and engagement initiatives associated with the campaign and major gift enterprise.
