Description:
High Point University is seeking a Director of Basketball Graphic Design and Video Operations to assist Women's Basketball Coaching Staff with all video filming and analysis. This position will oversee filming of women's basketball practice and games. This position will also upload and edit video to provide for coaches and players. Will help coaches prepare game scouts; edit practice and game film. Assist Athletic Communications staff with external video operations, including highlight videos and live broadcasts. In charge of women’s basketball graphic design and videos, including but not limited to social media posts. Will oversee HPU women’s basketball social media pages. Goal is to increase social media presence.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Experience and Training:
- Basketball playing, managing and/or coaching experience is preferred. Bachelor's degree required.
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of college basketball, filming, and video editing.
- Proficient in photoshop or a similar program.
- Must be able to recognize basketball plays and situations to edit video for coaches and players.
- Prefer knowledge of video equipment and editing software such as Sports Code, Synergy or a similar product.
- Must be able to present this information to the team when necessary, utilizing clear oral and written communication. Must be able to attract, hire and supervise student managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Oversees all video-related activities for the women's basketball team. Work closely with the head coach and assistant coaches to efficiently provide video data for scouting and player development. Enhance all video operations and provide feedback about tendencies and statistics to coaches.
- Be knowledgeable in video scouting software such as XOS, Synergy or similar products. Make recommendations to Head Coach and Associate Athletic Director about hardware and software purchases. Maintain all video and computer equipment.
- Be available to edit and review video with coaches and student-athletes at times conducive to their schedules; includes nights and weekends.
- With basketball knowledge, possess ability to recognize plays and situations that coaching staff requests and provide video footage for review.
- Meet with prospective student-athletes when coaching staff deems appropriate.
- Provide feedback to women's basketball coaching staff about best practices in filming and video analysis as well as recommendations for equipment purchases.
- Maintains an open line of communication with Athletic Communications staff to assist with external video operations, including the Big South Network, highlight videos and intro videos.
- Assist coaches with other basketball operations when necessary.
- Occasionally assist Athletic Communications staff with special projects, such as producing highlight videos or filming intro videos.
- Working knowledge and application of NCAA rules.
- Commitment to NCAA compliance, academic integrity, ethical conduct, and student-athlete well-being.
DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITY:
- Determine best methods and procedures for filming video editing for scouting and player development. Independently organize and clip all video footage to ensure the most efficient viewing possible.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Intern staff and team managers.
