Description:
This is a key hire as they grow, reporting directly to the CTO! You will lead the Application Engineering function of the organisation, managing a team of 8 engineers that you will scale to 20. You will be a hands on leader, overseeing the management of microgrid projects from an engineering perspective, visiting microgrid sites, solving interconnection issues and closing deals. Working with a variety of stakeholders including switchgear manufacturers & OEMS you will evolve current microgrid solutions!
Responsibilities :
- Provide technical expertise over the design, install, and build out of distributed energy solutions.
- Ensure DER assets are appropriately interconnected with the utility
- Managing diverse DER assets (solar, battery, generators) with different power loads
- Work with the business development, execution, and commercial teams to ensure microgrids are integrated into the customer site.
- Provide input to the solar, battery, generator, and controls designs to optimize performance, reliability, and sustainability for each customer site.
- Support, build and grow the Application Engineering team
- Visit customer sites, ensure microgrid components fit to existing power and fix interconnection challenges
- Create engineering best practise for streamlining microgrid project process
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years experience in Microgrids, Smart Grids or Energy Storage
- Extensive experience building and leading teams of 10+ engineers
- Extensive technical understanding of distributed energy technologies, including a combination of solar, battery and reciprocating engines/turbines.
- Strong knowledge of the various DER power sources within the Microgrid and how they best interface with the utility to provide a more efficient system.
- Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the US power markets, the interconnection process and requirements.
- Knowledge of systems controls for all the DER's and how they can be utilized to accomplish specific operating goals while part of the Microgrid.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical people to make projects work.
