Description:

UVA Libraries seeks applications for a the Director of Resource Sharing and Document Delivery Services. This individual will be a conscientious leader who will combine their knowledge of resource sharing with a strategic understanding of accessibility, copyright, and consortium partnerships to provide access to collections for learning and scholarship. This position reports to the Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Resources and Content Strategy (SRCS). UVA Libraries strives to ensure that UVA users have access to the collections they require, regardless of whether the collections are owned, shared, licensed, or open access. The Director of Resource Sharing and Document Delivery fosters an equitable, inclusive, and accessible workplace. This position is responsible for all operations, workflows, and business processes of the UVA Libraries’ interlibrary loan, document delivery, LEO (Library Express On Grounds), instructional scanning, accessibility services, and mailroom services. This position will oversee the administration, delivery, resource sharing functions, and the user interface in ILLiad and SIRSI Symphony. The unit includes 10 FTE with two managers directing the day-to-day work of interlibrary loan services, LEO, and document delivery.

 

UVA Library collaborates with UVA Accessibility and the UVA Student Disability Access Center (SDAC) to ensure full access to collections. This position is responsible for monitoring UVA accessibility requirements and ensuring that unit policies and scanning methods are consistent with and meet accessibility standards.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited institution, or master’s level degree in another academic discipline and experience as a Library Manager.
  • 7 years of relevant experience required; including 5 years of supervisory and/or management experience.
  • Experience working with a collections team to review data and determine how well library collections serve the diverse campus communities.
  • Demonstrated success initiating and managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organizational interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of trends and technology in the ILL and document delivery fields, including copyright issues, consortia, and resource sharing management software.
  • Working knowledge of copyright and fair use as it affects library/research photocopy or digital reproduction of print materials.
