Serve as the gatekeeper to ensure all brand standards are consistently expressed in all retail formats in global markets, including self-assisted concepts and FSS locations.
Partner closely with internal and external teams to oversee the design and development of all aspects of VM and retail design, including store/shop layouts, fixture design, merchandising displays, lighting, furniture, materials, and planograms.
Evolve concepts through design development as required for management approvals.
Utilize CAD for creating and modifying layouts and drawings on a daily basis. Employ 3D software, particularly SketchUp with VRAY, for design work.
Expertly review VM, architectural, construction, and fixture/millwork shop drawings.
Coordinate day-to-day vendor management, gather costs for approvals, and ensure alignment with design goals.
Have a deep understanding of material costs, construction trades, and processes that impact design.
Collaborate with the Creative and Marketing teams to implement new selling strategies effectively.
Stay informed about the competitive retail environment, especially within the beauty marketplace and among competitive brands.
Apply knowledge of sustainable design methodologies and materials.
Be aware of and knowledgeable about integrating digital technologies into the retail space.
Qualifications:
Experience level: Director
Bachelor's degree required, with a focus on graphic design, VM, interior design, or architecture.
Minimum of 7 years of design experience, ideally in retail or hospitality.
Stellar design aptitude and conceptual thinking are essential.
Strong project management skills to handle multiple projects in partnership with global affiliates and Zone teams.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with multiple business partners and cross-functional teams.
Strong working knowledge of basic fixture and cabinet construction detailing and methods.
Good awareness of design/industry trends, new concepts, materials, and innovations, and the ability to translate these ideas.
Demonstrates creative abilities in sketching, conceptual rendering, and space planning.
Good understanding of general building codes, ADA codes, and interior standards.
Comprehensive working knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp with VRAY. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Outlook, Excel).
