Description:

The Digital Media Specialist acts in a leadership manner interacting at the highest levels of the Agency with respect to the vision, planning, development and use of social media tools to promote the Commission’s policy priorities. The Specialist supports the Agency by creating digital media content such as text-based posts, visual graphics, short-form video content, among other digital products as identified across a wide variety of social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, among others, and engaging and tracking accounts that follow the FCC. This position primarily handles the social media content for the FCC, and the account representing the Office of the Chairwoman. The Specialist can expect to oversee and direct the agency’s contract for producing social media videos throughout the year that promote key policy announcements and overall messaging amplifying the work of the Office of the Chairwoman and the Commission as a whole. Therefore, this position requires expertise in creation and editing of graphics and video to promote the Agency’s activities, including start-to-finish story boarding, video shoots, video and graphics editing, captioning, and compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements for social platforms so that content is accessible to all persons.

The Specialist creates successful campaigns using a variety of methods and techniques such as video storytelling for use in various social media platforms, and executes such outreach campaigns in collaboration with relevant teams and subject matter experts and external partners through effective and consistent communication. The Specialist develops and maintains standards and work processes to ensure that digital strategy and social media programs and delivery strategies are organized on a consistent schedule, timed to relevant policy priorities, events, announcements, engagements with agency partners and stakeholders, and handled thoughtfully and in close communication with agency leadership during crisis situations impacting the broader public. The Specialist researches potential new media technologies for the agency to consider when expanding their social media presence. Plans outreach and development days centered on new media technology and digital strategy of the agency. Creates an efficient means of archiving social media content to meet the requirements of the National Archives and Records Management Association.
