Description:

As Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Manage the Virginia Chapter’s web presence on nature.org, collaborating with our landscape and project teams to ensure information is kept updated, optimizing web pages, authoring new content, capturing and interpreting web analytics, and generating relevant reports
  • Manage the social media accounts for TNC Virginia, including keeping a digital content calendar, developing creative social media posts including graphics and video, using organic and paid social to increase engagement and brand visibility with key audiences, tracking and reporting on metrics, and modifying tactics and schedules to meet online goals
  • Support the digital and design side of marketing campaigns, along with monitoring success metrics through third party metric measures and other tools to optimize performance, providing recommendations to ensure success
  • Oversee digital advertising, working within a budget for paid search on various ad platforms.
  • Compile monthly newsletters and other email marketing needs, including developing copy and design work within existing templates
  • Regularly collaborate with TNC Virginia teams and other partner stakeholders to gather content and support project needs
  • Provide support to departmental teams, such as setting up action centers for government relations, designing donor event materials and supporting MailChimp and online fundraising campaigns for philanthropy, and helping to promote volunteer opportunities
  • Discovers and keeps abreast of latest digital trends, best practices, and continued advancement in digital and marketing technologies and adapts to optimize productivity and effectiveness
  • Serves as the primary point of contact and admin for TNC’s visual assets library, ensuring metadata accuracy, rights and permissions
  • Provides support to various marketing projects as needed (media, web, print, direct mail, special events support)
  • Travel up to 25%
  • Other related duties as assigned

As the Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will manage the Virginia Chapter’s web presence on nature.org, social media channels, email marketing efforts, and the digital aspect of broader campaigns, ensuring TNC brand consistency and alignment of messaging throughout. You will develop and maintain relationships with digital colleagues across the organization, implementing digital strategies through creative design, video and copy that support the Chapter’s broader image, build awareness, grow engagement, influence conservation action, and support revenue goals. You should be enthused by the idea of traveling throughout Virginia to capture content about the Chapter’s work and to deepen relationships with field staff. You will also provide support to the philanthropy and government relations teams with event and campaign materials as needed. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in conservation and the ability to understand, embrace and communicate The Nature Conservancy’s work.

  • Experience in multi-channel social media work, including the development of content calendars and digital strategies, measuring results, and managing paid ads
  • Experience in CMS, SEO, SEM and Google Analytics/web traffic metrics
  • A creative background with experience in digital design and creating social media videos
  • An interest in conservation and the desire to help convey TNC’s mission to diverse groups
  • Knowledge and application of current and evolving trends in marketing
  • Ability to work independently without requiring detailed management review of general work
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive and write creatively for various audiences from technical information
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and project management experience
  • Practical knowledge of marketing and branding principles
  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience cultivating and managing customer/colleague relationships
  • Exceptional writing, editing and collaboration skills
  • Experience organizing and coordinating multiple projects
