Digital Imaging Specialist

Description:

The position is located within the digitization program of the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives (SLA), Smithsonian Institution. The purpose of this position is to create, describe, share and maintain high quality digital images from the Libraries and Archives collections, and to support and review such activities as performed by others.

In this position, you will:

• Operate and maintain a variety of imaging equipment and associated computer hardware and software to digitize cultural heritage material.
• Review and apply descriptive metadata standards, and coordinate with catalogers and metadata specialists to fix errors discovered.
• Provide coordination support for agile prioritization of collection materials and fulfillment of user requests
• Write, update, and maintain documentation of digitization and metadata workflows and case-specific decisions.
