GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will solicit funds and manage a portfolio of corporate donors for the Museum's fundraising program in the exhibition and program sponsorship area. You will identify, solicit and steward a portfolio of corporate sponsorship prospects; write exhibition and project proposals, correspondence and reports; and assist the corporate annual giving team as necessary, among other duties. The position supervises one Development Assistant. You are a key member of an 8-member team charged with raising approximately $20 million annually.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Identify, solicit and steward a portfolio of corporate sponsorship prospects for The Met’s robust schedule of exhibitions and special projects, with annual revenue of approximately $3 million.
Collaborate with curatorial and program departments and the Development Department Research team to identify prospects and create fundraising materials.
Negotiate and draft sponsorship agreements with Counsel’s Office, Communications and Finance Departments.
Act as departmental liaison with the museum’s Exhibitions Department.
Allocate and steward exhibition endowment funds with the museum’s Finance Department.
Reconcile exhibition funding and monthly cashflow with the Finance Department.
Assist the corporate annual giving team as necessary, such as with the annual Spring Gala and Real Estate Council Benefit events.
Supervise one Development Assistant, who maintains day-to-day operations such as drafting proposals, gift acknowledgments, general correspondence, and closing reports for corporate sponsors, and tracking exhibition and project credit lines across all assets produced throughout the Museum.
Perform other related departmental duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors' degree or equivalent experience
7 years professional fundraising experience
Demonstrated experience exercising judgement, confidentiality, and diplomacy with donors
Detail oriented and the ability to multi-task
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with visual arts
Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
Familiarity with a donor management database such as Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge.
Excellent administrative skills including general office procedures and business protocols
Ability to work independently, handle a large volume of detailed work simultaneously, and use good judgment in prioritizing work.
