Desktop Support Specialist

 

Description:

We are looking for a Desktop Support Specialist to work in the maintenance, installation, and repair of computers, software, and mobile technology. This position will be full-time contract and onsite.

What You’ll Do
 

  • Prepare and deploy IT related equipment
  • Provide in-depth enterprise IT workstation support to end users
  • Resolve problems and answer questions related to the computing environment
  • Contact vendor-support when necessary to resolve issues
  • Serve as a technical liaison to the user community
  • Document incidents and problems and escalate issues to the appropriate engineering team when required
  • Install and update software and Operating Systems
  • Install and troubleshoots computer equipment and mobile devices at user locations as required
  • Evaluate and recommend available training to satisfy user needs
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of reports
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware, software, and peripheral equipment
  • Guide users in hardware and software best practices
  • Assist with equipment inventory, maintenance contracts, and equipment warranties
  • Provide off-hours coverage as scheduled by the Team Lead or Managers
  • From time to time, the employee will be required to perform additional tasks and duties as required by the employer, Team Lead, and Managers
     

Required

What You'll Need
 

  • Associate degree, or equivalent experience and education, and 1-3 years of experience providing Information Technology end user support
  • In-depth understanding of troubleshooting techniques and experience with remote troubleshooting tools
  • Tracks and monitors the progress of issues through standard best practices and procedures to identify interventions and resolutions
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high level of user trust and confidence and ability to manage client expectations
  • Knowledge of supporting current releases of Windows 10, Windows 11 and Microsoft 365
  • Knowledge of standard principles and practices of IT Desktop Support & Cybersecurity
  • Knowledge of capabilities, requirements, uses, and applications of computers, peripherals, and mobile devices
  • Knowledge of Network equipment, routers, hubs, switches, Ethernet cables, and general networking
  • Ability to travel to offices throughout Allegheny County, as needed, to maintain, install, and repair computer & mobile device equipment and software
  • Have a reliable vehicle
