Description:
MWA Architects is seeking a designer with a passion for creating well-designed projects to join our growing San Francisco infrastructure design studio. We are looking for a team player who is creative, collaborative, responsible, enthusiastic, and organized, and who can adapt to the demands of multiple complex project scopes at all phases of design and construction. You will bring attention to detail, the ability to communicate with the design team and managers and demonstrate critical judgment and acquired knowledge.
Your responsibilities:
- Perform assignments designed to develop professional work skills, knowledge, and abilities in a variety of design and technical areas.
- Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a series of related tasks.
- Work from the design of others and provides design assistance for specific aspects of a project.
- Utilize independent judgment for tasks completed through experience on related projects or tasks.
- Understand and use technology to produce documents and drawings to support project design.
- Coordination assistance with A/E consultants for specific aspects of the project.
- Assist with programming/planning requirements of a project.
- Assist in developing design solutions for specific aspects of a project.
- Assist in developing technical documents for permit submission.
- Assist construction administration.
- Assist with post-occupancy data collection if intended for the project.
- Perform to expectations provided by the supervisor’s direction on how to approach and complete given assignments.
- May be asked to provide direction to others also involved in the tasks undertaken.
- Share technical knowledge and skills learned with others.
- Attend selected professional organization meetings and/or events.
- Perform high-quality technical work, which helps to lead to repeat business.
Requirements:
- Two to five years of project designer experience within a firm/studio environment, with at least one year working on complex or highly technical project types.
- A bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited program.
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and other 3D modeling/rendering programs.
- LEED accreditation is preferred but not required.
- Well-organized portfolio with examples of professional design presentation drawings and construction documents.
- Ability to work in a team environment and in a fast-paced process to meet client needs and deadlines.
- Strong graphic and visualization skills to communicate design ideas.
- Experience researching construction materials and methods and developing technical plans.
- Experience with sustainable and resilient design; LEED, Living Building, or other green accreditation a plus.
