Description:

The Data Center-Mainframe-z/OS position in Frisco, TX offers an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced System Programmer with in-depth knowledge of z/OS services and related technologies. The role focuses on maintaining, customizing, and enhancing the mainframe systems environment, ensuring system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• z/OS and System Services Expertise: Fully understand z/OS services structure, JES concepts, parallel sysplex/GDPS, catalog management, and PARMLIB configuration.

• Programming Knowledge: Strong knowledge of JCL, REXX, CLIST, Modify Assembler EXITS, and IMS/MQ Series (WebSphere MQ).

• System Customization: Customize and support RACF, mainframe automation tools, and ISV products like CA-View, Tape management tool (CA-1), and BMC Incontrol.

• Database & Performance Monitoring: Install, configure, and maintain DB2, and use performance monitoring tools like SAS, MXG, Omegamon, and CA-MICS for performance analysis.

• CICS Systems Management: Install and upgrade CICS and related products. Ensure the reliability and availability of CICS systems software.

• System Performance & Tuning: Troubleshoot, perform problem diagnostics, and tune system performance based on transaction workloads using tools like IBM's RMF, SMF, and subsystem analysis tools.

• Capacity Planning & Configuration: Handle storage capacity planning and system configuration for z/OS environments.

• Software Upgrades: Install regular maintenance and upgrades for software and hardware in the z/OS environment.

Required Skills:

• System Programming: Over 9 years of system programming experience, specifically within the z/OS environment.

• Technical Knowledge: Expertise in IMS, MQ Series, RACF, DB2, SMP/E, SQL, and related mainframe software tools.

• Automation & Monitoring: Experience in mainframe automation, using monitoring and automation tools like Netview, SA z/OS, Tivoli, BMC AO, and Control-O.

• Problem-Solving & Diagnostics: Strong problem diagnostics, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills for z/OS systems.

• Database Knowledge: Proficiency in DB2 and related utilities, including ZPARMS, DB2 logs, and BSDS.

• SAS Programming: Experience with SAS programming, including retrofitting SAS code for MXG applications after product upgrades.

• Communication & Documentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in customer-facing roles, along with good documentation skills.

• MS Office Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, including MS Project and Visio.

Desired Skills:

• Performance & Capacity Management: Experience in Performance & Capacity Management for z/OS.

• Customization of ISV Products: Ability to customize ISV/OEM products related to automation and monitoring tools.

• Customer Handling: Strong customer service and handling skills, with the ability to manage unforeseen situations and ensure customer satisfaction.
