Description:

The Access Services Librarian & Curator of Special Collections facilitates access to the digital and print collections of Sage Library. The Librarian/Curator coordinates the circulation services and exhibitions in gallery spaces. S/he will also provide expert cataloging and preservation practices to conserve and make accessible the special collections of Sage Library for New Brunswick Theological Seminary students, faculty, and the broader library research community.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate information access for print and digital resources for students, faculty, alumni and staff.
  • Lead the circulation services team by directly coordinating Library Assistants staff scheduling.
  • Review and maintain accuracy of access-related content for the Library website.
  • Collaborate with library staff and the Theological Writing Center to support student success.
  • Create and maintain a database of art and artifacts in Special Collections, including the Bussing Museum collection, rare books, and ephemera.
  • Develop and implement policies related to circulation, gallery space use, and reference services.
  • Support Technical Services, including development and accessibility of course reserves, the Digital Theological Library, institutionally-licensed eBooks and journals, and acquisitions for the general collections – monographs and serials.
  • Collaborate actively with Library, Seminary Archives, and Reformed Church in America Archives staff.
  • Liaise with administrative staff to support students’ information access and ADA accommodations.
  • Other duties as assigned. 
  • Qualifications / Skills Required:
  • Experience relevant to access services, reference, cataloging, and/or curation in a library or museum environment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide variety of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a strong service-oriented environment.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills, and ability to work independently and collegially.
  • Broad familiarity with the academic research and writing process, including research databases and citation styles.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing, increasingly technological environment.
  • Availability to work some evenings and weekends according to the academic lifecycle.
  • Interest and/or experience working with people from diverse faith backgrounds.
  • Understanding of and comfort with Anti-Racism is a must.
  • Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
