Description:
Assist Graphic Design students in the operation of the Print Shop. Responsibilities include working with students, staff and administrators; preparing various copy and print jobs; maintaining inventory; ordering supplies; coordinate monthly billing and operation and maintenance of copy machines and Print Shop equipment.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties:
- Work cooperatively with classroom teacher to assist and direct students with computers, graphics and printing equipment.
- Review and evaluate accuracy of student work in the Graphic Design program before distributing to Aberdeen School District personnel.
- Create and design desktop publishing documents for teachers and staff on items such as: brochures, letterheads, parking passes, event calendars, forms, campus maps, etc.
- Operation and maintenance of a variety of equipment including, but not limited to the following: copy machines, poster printers, bindery equipment, printing equipment and computer peripherals
- Able to operate classroom computer equipment and knowledge and performance abilities in the following software programs: Adobe In Design, Adobe Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and other software programs as they are made available.
- Setup and maintain monthly billing for the print shop for the following areas: Aberdeen School District, Aberdeen High School (by department) and any outside groups requesting
- Submit monthly report to Aberdeen High School principal, Career and Technical Education Director and Aberdeen High School department leaders.
- Set up special accounts as necessary, such as independent billing and credit accounts.
- Maintain monthly inventory of supply and materials, purchase inventory and process orders as needed. Receive shipments and maintain records in a data management system. Track print shop budget with the Career and Technical Education office.
- Set up deliveries and distribution with the maintenance department for completed print shop orders.
- Answer and respond to telephone, electronic and in-person inquiries concerning print shop orders and billing.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- AA degree, 90 college credits or pass a skills test required.
- Experience in or have had training at a trade school for graphic communications preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and English usage.
- General knowledge of office/clerical practices, procedures and equipment and ability to operate standard office equipment such as typewriter, word processor and photocopier. Keyboarding skills at 45 words per minute.
- Ability to learn and willingness to use personal computer-based microcomputer equipment and various software programs such as Adobe, Photoshop, FileMaker Pro and Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and be flexible to meet deadlines.
