Description:
Reporting to the Dean of the College of Media and Entertainment, the Strategic Communications Specialist is a member of the college’s administrative staff and is responsible for all communications for the college. The specialist works with internal and external constituencies to create and maintain engagement with prospective and current students, faculty, alumni, the university, and the community. The specialist provides student editorial staff oversight with social media management and digital content creation; long-range planning; creative and production timelines; message development; collaboration with external stakeholders, internal leadership, and team members; maintaining college and departmental websites; and serving as the college’s marketing liaison with university marketing. To perform additional duties as needed.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree required, preferred degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related field.
Required Related Experience
Three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to print and digital content creation and publications.
Desirable Related Experience
Preferred experience to include: Website content management or development; demonstrated written and oral communication skills to reach target audiences and key stakeholders; working with design and production staff/vendor to create print and online content; maintenance of data and report generation on communication effectiveness.
