Description:
We are thrilled to collaborate with our client in Denver as they expand their Accounting Department and seek a talented Controller to lead their finance team. The Controller will hold a pivotal position within the company's finance department, responsible for overseeing financial reporting, analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a technology/software or fintech company. This role offers a hybrid work model, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads to develop accurate financial projections and monitor performance against targets.
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards, including revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and tax regulations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to senior management to support decision-making and business planning.
- Lead the annual financial audit process, including coordinating with external auditors and preparing audit schedules and financial statements.
- Manage cash flow and treasury functions, including cash management, banking relationships, and investment strategies.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of experience as a Controller within Information Technology or related industry.
- Experience in a leadership or managerial capacity.
- Experience with inventory management.
- Experience with 3rd party procurement and invoicing
- Familiarity with ERP systems.
- Advanced knowledge of financial reporting standards.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
